ECCENTRIC (Extra)

Hello, so a few days ago i wrote about what i think about the Music Video of Keyakizaka46 "Eccentric", and i think i left out a few detail about it. now after watching it a couple more time, i think i want to make another post about one particular scene. but before that, i want to say in my previous post i say that the final dance scene was in a big hall and there is no way that water can get in, turns out i was wrong, it was actually outside, so i'm sorry for  that mistake. anyway that's that and this is now, so the scene that i want to talk about is the scene where Sugai Yuuka path is blocked by some barriers and can't get through (i don't have a picture, but you know which one). now i am a person who like history, i read a lot of history book, and after re-reading a book that i have, i think i have an opinion about what the scene means, and this is it.

Ok, first a little bit of history, after World War 2, Germany (who loses the war) got its territory split in half, East Germany, which became part of the Soviet Union, and West Germany. now, the capital of West Germany is the city of Berlin, which is in the territory of East Germany. so what they do is they decided to split Berlin into two, East Berlin and West Berlin, and they made a border which eventually became the Berlin Wall. now what a people probably don't know is the purpose of the wall, the Berlin Wall was not built to keep the West Berlin people in, but it was to keep the East Berlin People out. let me explain, the Berlin Wall is built to surround what is at that time West Berlin, so you could say its kinda like a prison, but the purpose of it is very different. the wall was built to keep the East Berlin/East German people which in this context is the majority, from let's say trespassing to the west which in this context is the minority. so the main purpose of the wall was to keep the majority from the minority and not the other way around. until of course the fall of the wall in '89.

so what this have to do with that Yuuka's scene you might ask. well i think that the barrier that's blocking her path has the same purpose as the wall, to keep the majority out. you see, most of the time, people who are different, or doesn't fit in others, the minority, or in other word "Eccentric", actually deliberately closed themselves from other because they don't want to be like them, they don't want to be contaminated, just like the lyrics of the song

It’s everyone else who’s strange

yes it might be true, that the one that made that barrier is the majority, because they think you are to weird and they don't want to accept you, or probably because they're just scared, but sometimes its better for us as a minority to have that barrier, because it means that we can keep being ourselves, being eccentric, and not feared to someday became one of them, no fear of being contaminated by the outside world. that is what i think is the meaning of that scene, its yuuka saying "i am me, and i don't want to be like any of you, i don't want to be contaminated by the outside world, leave me alone".

well i guess that's enough for now, some of you might think "what is this guy saying? i don't understand a single word of it" well i get that and i don't mind, we all have our own opinion, and we all have the same rights to tell those opinion, so if you don't agree, that's fine.
