11-Gatsu no Anklet Impression

Hello, and yes i know its late, but i guess its better to be late than never. so anyway, AKB48 has finally release their 50th single titled 11-Gatsu no Anklet. this single also doubled as Watanabe Mayu's final single because of course, she's graduating. i've listen to all of the song and watch all of the MV and this is my impression on it.

11-Gatsu no Anklet (Senbatsu)
Let's start with the main song, and as usual when Mayu center a song, it tends to be quite flat. and this one is no different. this is definitely a Mayu song, it has a nice chorus to it, very catchy, but as i say, a bit flat. and there is one part that i really don't like about this song, that's the bridge between the verse/pre-chorus and the chorus itself, it sound so sudden and out of place that it almost ruined the whole song. i mean, i was enjoying the song quite nicely and then suddenly out of nowhere Mayu just scream OK!!! and then it goes to the chorus. honestly, i really don't like that part. and for the MV, well i don't understand, this is Mayu last single but i hardly saw Mayu in it. it focuses mainly on Sasshi, Jurina and Sayanee rather than the center herself. hell, even Dasu got her own little solo part. i wish they put more Mayu in this MV.

Sayonara de Owaru Wake Janai (Watanabe Mayu)
Speaking of more Mayu, this song has a lot of her. i think NMB fans would agree that this song sounds like the song 12/31 from NMB's first album, the chorus is similar, and the verse is quite similar as well. and that's not really a bad thing, 12/31 is one of my all time favorite NMB song, and i really like Sayonara de Owaru Wake Janai as well. its a really good ballad song, and it suits Mayu's voice perfectly. and for the MV, i don't really understand the MV until the very end of it, where Mayu is literally burns her past self and starts of a new journey, which is a nice message for someone who is graduating.

Omoidasete Yokatta (STU48)
Well, i quite like this song. it has a nice flow and a really nice chorus. also it has that maritime feel to it, if you get what i mean. its definitely better than their first song, but that's about it. this song is just a very good song, there's nothing special about it, i like it, but i'll probably forget about it after a couple of months. the MV is quite good, i don't know most of the girl in it (all of them but 1 really), but i really like how Naachan is getting closer with the STU member. its really fun to watch, and the solo shot really makes the girls look great, especially Naachan, she look amazing here.

Houtei Sokudo to Yuuetsukan (U-17 Senbatsu)
this senbatsu is filled with a bunch of kids and the song reflect it nicely. its a really fun and quirky song, the chorus is very catchy, i really like the 'yeah yeah wow wow' bit. and the MV is no different, its a very colorful american comic strip style. its colorful, its funny, again really suits their age. and i also like that even though this is a Yui-yui center song, they don't focus on her too much, everyone else also got a decent amount of screen time.

Yaban na Kyuuai (Dance Senbatsu)
Another dance senbatsu, i never like the dance senbatsu song. this one is no different, its messy and all over the place, it sounded like a BGM for a dance competition. not really something that i like to listen to on a daily basis. and the MV, well i have no doubt about the skill of the member in here, i mean one of them is the choreographer for another idol group after all. visually with the red and white, i guess its fine, again, its basically is just a showcase of the skill of the members, which is not a bad thing. but i would say this, i really like how Nakano Ikumi got a chance to shine, its a brief moment, but its still a good one.

Hohoemi no Toki (7byou-go Kimi ga Suki ni Naru)
This song give the least impression to me. i mean its a nice song, sounds pretty good, but that's about it. its not great but its not bad, its just 'a song'. same story with the MV, i mean it looks nice, the member look good, but it just doesn't feel special to me. and that's a pity, because i really like some of the girls in here.

Ikiru Koto ni Nekkyou wo! (Team 8)
Again, this song just doesn't give a lot of impression to me. its not bad in any way, its sounded just fine, but it just doesn't feel special to me. and the MV, well am i right to say that this is the first Team 8 MV that doesn't feature a Toyota? tell me if i'm wrong. and yeah, it doesn't really give a lot of impact, it looks nice, but that's pretty much it.

Yosougai no Story (Vocal Senbatsu)
Not the type of song i was expecting, and not as good as i thought it would be, i don't know, maybe i was expecting too much. but that does not mean that this is a bad song, oh no, not by a long shot. this is probably the best song in this single. this song feel very nostalgic to me, i really like the pop RnB style to it, and of course the vocal are amazing. and for once, Sayanee's voice isn't dominating over everyone else, you can clearly hear every other member signature voice, and they're all amazing. they're so good that i think i can name the order which they sing in the first verse, now i can be completely wrong here, so do tell me if i get it wrong. ok, i think the order is like this, remember this is the first verse only, ok so it was Yukirin then Tano then Sayanee then Yuihan then Naachan then Churi then Miichan and finally Miru. again, i can be completely wrong, so tell me if i'm right or wrong.

overall i think every song in this single has a similar problem, and that is none of the song feels special. most of the song are good, but none is actually feels special enough to leave an impression, apart from maybe the Vocal Senbatsu song. so yeah i guess that's it, next up i guess its going to be the NGT48 2nd single, and i have to say i'm quite excited for that one, so you can look forward to that, but for now
