Jikochuu de Ikou! Impression

Hello and welcome to another post, this time we're going to talk about the new Nogizaka46 single Jikochuu de Ikou. i know its a bit late, i have to wait for the Spotify version of the audio to be released before i can make this, so yeah that's my excuse. anyway enough of the excuses, let's just get to it.

Jikochuu de Ikou (Senbatsu)

As usual, we're going to start on the main song. Saito Asuka's 2nd solo center (3rd overall) and its another summer song. after the absolutely brilliant Hadashi de Summer in 2016, Asuka finally center the summer song of 2018, and its pretty alright to be honest. ok, its not anywhere near as good as Hadashi de Summer, but its still pretty good, i like it, i like the summer rock feel to it, the chorus is pretty good, a solid song i have to say.
The MV is also very good, they filmed it in Vietnam. i think for the most part it looks great, i can tell that a lot of the shot in it was taken in one take so they can get the best reaction possible from the members, and i like that. i like how they incorporate the local culture in the MV, with the dresses, the ancient ruins, and the market. the use of the drone to show off the beautiful environment is very nice. but a few thing that i don't like from the MV are, first there's the editing that they do on the sky, there's 2 instances where they did this, the first one was the dance scene on the beach, for some reason they put shooting stars on the sky.
and the second was on the drone shot from the boat scene at night, they put in a rather nice starry sky on there.
for the second case i can understand why they did it, it was a wide shot at night, and if they didn't do anything on the sky then it would just look pure black, and its not really a nice sight. but the shooting star, i don't know, i don't really like it, not because its bad, but just because it has no purpose, i mean the sky was already beautiful, so why you have to put in those shooting stars. second thing i don't really like is the dance scene itself, it look like the members were either under practice or just wasn't comfortable with the environment, because a couple of member were not dancing very well, Yoda was probably the biggest offender. but overall, its a pretty solid MV, a lot of good shots, very nice story, and the members looks great.

Kokoro no Monologue (Shiraishi Mai and Nishino Nanase)

Second song is this duet between Nanase and Maiyan, first time listening to it, i already think its one of the best song from this single, great melody, great vocal, pretty good chorus, and it fits the style of both Nanase and Maiyan. overall good song.
The MV meanwhile, well that is something, it was something that i wasn't expecting, and i love it. first it started out pretty normal, just a small fun scene with Nanase and Maiyan with 2 3rd gen member, but then it escalated to a fight scene before going absolutely ridiculous with the bazooka (technically its called a LAW) and Maiyan using the force. and i love it, it give us something unexpected. my favorite part has to be the fight scene. this MV was directed by Hanabusa Tsutomu, which is the same guy that directed the movie Asahinagu. and you can clearly see the similarity in style with the fight scene from Kokoro no Monologue and Asahinagu. the dynamic and fluid camera movement that follows the fight choreography, the wide shot when the 2 was facing off, the fight choreography itself and the wire action (Miona gotta be very jealous), it all blends together very well, and really great to watch, definitely one of the best MV this year.
Look familiar?

cool shot

Sankaku no Akichi (Under Member)

This song is probably my favorite from the single. the Under members always get a great song, this one is no exception. very intense and has a lot of feeling to it, the chorus gives me goosebump, a very Under style song. and oh, Nakada Kana is the center, finally she get a center that she deserve.
The MV is not my favorite to be honest, i mean it looks great, its well made, it has a nice story to it, and i do love those solo shots, but overall, i'm just not feeling it, i don't know, maybe its just me. but i love those solo shots, the members all look amazing. and the dance scene as well, the black and bright color costume look really good, i want to see a live performance of it.

Sora Tobira (Senbatsu??)

This song really grow on me, at first i thought this song was just another Anime style song (to be fair it is an Anime song) but listening to it more, i really like it. it has a nice melody to it, nice chorus, and just nice to listen to. centered by Umezawa Minami, who is a 3rd gen member, and it has all the 3rd gen member that is part of the senbatsu on the front row.
The MV is probably my favorite overall, it has a great story, great cinematography, they went to JAXA (japan equivalent to NASA) to shoot it, Momoko is E.T for some reason, Umezawa is Maiyan sister in this, the dance scene is great, and i like how the formation is made so that nobody is standing directly behind Umezawa (i'm saying Umezawa because there are 2 girl name Minami in here and i don't want any confusion). seriously, if they decided to make an Anime out of this MV, i would watch it. its just a very pleasant MV to watch. i want to make a full breakdown on this MV maybe on a separate post. if there is something that i don't like about the MV is probably this
i don't like those borders, if its black or white its fine, but actually using the sky for it, no.

these are probably my favorite shots from the MV.

Chikyuu ga Marui Nara (Saito Asuka, Ozono Momoko, Yoda Yuki)

This the song that i would love to listen just before going to bed, its just soo soothing and calming, and the vocal is also very relaxing, makes you just want to look at the night sky and relax.
The MV probably has the lowest quality out of all the MV on this single, quite a lot of the image was shaky, it looks like they don't have a lot to work with. but then again, 90% of this MV is the 3 of them eating food so i imagine its hard to get a lot of footage unless they want to make the 3 of them gain quite some weight. but its fine for me, i still enjoy watching it. i like the story of it, Asuka, Momoko and Yoda sneaking out from the bus to go on their own adventure (how did nobody notice 3 people missing from the bus), also just like the song it is very relaxing to watch, i can watch it over and over again.

Jibun Janai Kanji (Nogizaka46 3rd Generation (minus Kubo Shiori))
I love this song, it just has a lot of style to it, a joy to listen. it has that old school sound to it, but without being old fashioned, and somehow still sounded fresh. the chorus is great, the rapping is pretty cool, it has a nice guitar, its just a very very good song. my favorite? maybe... the only minus is that it doesn't have an MV, and Kubo Shiori is missing.

Anna ni Sukidatta no ni.... (Senbatsu)
This song is pretty bland, not much to say really. its not bad, but its not great either, the chorus was just alright, not really anything special, and the melody was very generic. i don't know, i listen to it 3 times now, and i don't really remember the song.

And that's it, all the song and MV covered, overall i think its a very solid single, the songs are solid, the MV's are solid.  not as good as Synchronicity, but really its more because of Synchronicity was just that good and not because Jikochuu de Ikou! was bad or anything, as i say its still a very solid single.
And for my ranking of best song and MV for the single is like this

MV
1. Sora Tobira
1. Kokoro no Monologue
3. Jikochuu de Ikou!
4. Chikyuu ga Marui Nara
5. Sankaku no Akichi

Song
1. Jibun Janai Kanji
2. Sankaku no Akichi
3. Kokoro no Monologue
4. Sora Tobira
5. Jikochuu de Ikou!
6. Chikyuu ga Marui Nara
7. Anna Sukidatta no ni....

i guess that's it, that's my impression of Nogizaka46 21st single Jikochuu de Ikou!
